Our Veterans
Clovis Veterans Memorial District is dedicated to serving our veterans and our community, and has been since 1946. We’re proud to honor all members of the armed forces, including those who have served in combat positions. Our memorials offer an enduring symbol of gratitude and remembrance to veterans, like those presented here, who have served and sacrificed for our country.

I was not always a BAR man. I was made one when I was transferred from Company C to a newly formed Company A of the regiment. Since being reassigned, I’d been wounded in December 14, 1944 in the first assault on Fortress Bitche.

After Pearl Harbor, things changed in a hurry. Kids were getting drafted. I was a little bit different in that I didn’t have as many credits, or I guess I had a few more credits. It was finally decided to let these people who were in college, stay until they completed school. I got my degree in 1943.
